This workshop is aimed at both beginners and those with some woodcarving experience. The course will start with an introduction to the different chisels used for woodcarving, including how to handle and sharpen them. You will learn about different types of wood and tools, alongside demonstrations to show a range of carving techniques, including chip and relief carving. Beginners can work on the project set by the course leader, although experienced attendees may choose their own design that has been agreed with the tutor beforehand.
The course will be led by sculptor and professional woodcarver Laura Anderson, who combines her sculpture background with her knowledge of woodcarving to apply traditional woodcarving techniques to contemporary objects and pieces.
Please note that refunds and/or changes to ticket are available up to 7 days before course start date.
