Bond over making during a half-day workshop experience. Introducing children to the practical woodworking skills less often covered by the school curriculum, this 3 hour session teaches a range of basic skills and techniques to children through the building of their own wooden toolbox… which they can take home afterwards. Following tutor demonstrations to the group, adults can then supervise their child as they use hand and power-tools to make the project. Workshop safety is emphasised throughout, as children learn how to mark out, saw, drill, sand and screw timber.
This course was piloted last summer and funded by William Morris Big Local. In response to your feedback we are now offering it as an adult/child session to encourage parents and guardians to get making too! Led by Toby Poolman, our resident senior wood technician, who originally trained as a furniture designer/maker, and has since worked as furniture maker, timber-framed building craftsman and college lecturer.
Participants must be aged 8-12 years. 1 combined ticket per adult and child.
Please note that refunds and/or changes to ticket date are available up to 7 days before course start date.
