Opening 10th April – 7th May 2017
HEAL’S Flagship Store
196 Tottenham Court Rd, Bloomsbury, London W1T 7PJ

Exciting news from us here at Blackhorse…
We’ve been approached by HEAL’S, London’s top interior design store, to be a part of this year’s Modern Craft Market. Since 2014, HEAL’S have been running the Modern Craft Market during London Craft Week, where the windows of their flagship store on Tottenham Court Road host a curated selection of products with the focus on the craftsmanship behind each project.

The theme for this years market is Made in London with the aim to uncover products that are not just designed but manufactured in London. Since Blackhorse Workshop is home to some of London’s most exciting design talent, we are delighted to be involved.

Our resident members selected by HEAL’S are:

De Allergri and Fogale
Design Studio duo Laetitia de Allegri and Matteo Fogale, lead with a design approach that considers honest, premium and unconventional materials, alongside a deep understanding  functionality and longevity. Their work has consisted of bespoke commissions and installations for the likes of Bloomberg and London Design Festival.

Group Design
Designers Richard Wells and Jeremy Schotte create and manufacture progressive lighting, furniture and home accessories, that have been featured in House and Gardens, ELLE Decoration and Dezeen. The two share a passion that strives to design products of elegance that integrate seamlessly into everyday life.

Clare Loescher’s design philosophy of taking wooden furniture that is no longer wanted, and fixing it up using a combination of hand painting and decoupage techniques, began as a response to environmental sustainability, and as a counter to the amount of furniture being thrown away around London. This idea evolved to become a passion for turning unwanted items into robust, usable, vibrant pieces of art.

Tim Summers Design
Among many other achievements, Tim has been selected for this year’s Hothouse development programme run by the Crafts Council. His approach to the design process is through hands on making. With rigorous experimentation, he endeavours to identify the unique qualities inherent in materials and in the different ways of manipulating them.

Wilson | Palmer
Upon starting their partnership, Thom Wilson and Herb Palmer’s goal was to make furniture designed to celebrate the purity of form and functionality using good design as it’s foundation that doesn’t conform to trends, but comes from the careful consideration of what materials and process are used.

[M]odel Maker
Odel Jeffries is a designer & maker working on bespoke furniture projects, commercial and residential architecture projects, gallery and museum renovations, and architectural model making projects.  He was nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal 2010, in addition to being featured in Building Design’s ‘Class of 2010’ and the Architecture Review’s ‘Top Ten London Architecture Units’.
