FUN IN THE SUN

The sun shone for us at Blackhorse Workshop on Saturday, as we opened our doors for a Makers Market and Open House London 2019.

We saw the launch of Dusty Garcia’s – a new woodwork and homeware shop set up by workshop members Enrique Melin and Lua Garcia. We had a great selection of products, design and craft on offer from workshop members Azmy Anything, Lauren Wilson Studio, Adam Vaudin, EGallowayLeather, Evonne Morgan, Saunders Seasonings, Yanire Sylva Delgado, Things Places Messages and Daniela Rubino.

We welcomed gilding specialist Rian Kanduth who ran a one-off Contemporary Gilding workshop for makers and designers. Attendees learned how to work with loose gold leaf and how to apply it to wood and metal samples. Our popular Creative Induction: Chopping Board course taught by workshop member and teacher Christina French was running in the wood workshop, using locally grown wood from our on-site supplier Saunders Seasonings.

Sean McAlister from architects practice Sean and Stephen led an Open House tour together with creative director Harriet Warden, focusing on the new colourful studio containers that arrived in March. They are the latest addition to our building, expanding the space and provision for small creative businesses based at the workshop. The tour group met container studio members Mick from Lapsley Frameworks and Matteo Fogale, and were introduced to their independent design and making studios.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen and to all the new faces who came to look around. Stay tuned for our next event!
