How to Use the Workshop
We welcome everyone from all backgrounds and skill levels. From the absolute beginner to seasoned professional, we can provide you with the knowledge to get making or the space and machinery for working on larger projects.
Blackhorse Workshop is an open access space, a friendly and safe environment to make and create. Alongside a wood and metal workshop we offer a common room to relax, a café on site and technical support providing advice on everything from materials to getting starting on your projects.
FIRST THINGS FIRST….HEALTH & SAFETY INDUCTIONS
To use the workshop you must first complete a compulsory induction, which meets health and safety requirements. After this you will be ready to book a bench and get started on your project. The health and safety inductions assume that you are already familiar with the majority of the machinery; if you are just starting out, we recommend our “Introduction to…” and “Project” courses which spend more time on practicing skills and techniques.
We run group inductions for the main machinery and equipment in the Workshop:
One to one inductions are included on the first day of your space booking on the following if you have previous experience. If you are just starting out, our “Introduction to..” courses include a health and safety induction and the extra information and practice time you’ll need to start using the Workshop independently.

How much does it cost?
There are two ways to pay for your bench, either pay as you go or you can buy monthly, six-monthly or annual passes.
Our prices below are for access to bench space and machinery:
WOOD WORKBENCH:
£32 per day (available to anyone completing a Hand tools, Power tools or Machine Shop induction)
£23 per half day
METAL WORKBENCH:
£35 per day (available to anyone who has completed the Metal Induction).
£25 per half day
ONE MONTH:
£245 (access to both wood and metal workshops)
SIX MONTHS:
£940 (access to both wood and metal workshops)
ONE YEAR:
£1,750 (access to both wood and metal workshops)

£10 per hour
£25 per half day
£50 per full day
