Sadly our workshop is all sold out, but there’s all sorts of events happening all weekend in maker spaces across the UK – so definitely worth venturing out and paying a visit to the amazing venues taking part.
And don’t worry you can always sign up to another of our metalworking courses hereif you’ve missed the boat!

The first ever Blackhorse Burning Man went down in spectacular style last night! A mammoth combined effort…so thanks to everyone at the workshop and those who came down and helped out! Click here to watch him come to life!
Half punk, half hell-raiser he was a terrifying sight!!
And as the flames licked, he fell to his knees with mechanical grace into his own grave! Fright Night indeed!
As you can see we’re getting more than a little exited about our bonfire night next Saturday! All week we’ll be busy building the frame for the Blackhorse Burning Man: half hell raiser, half day of the dead inspired skeleton. Come down and help build during the day, and watch it burn from 7pm – late. And don’t forget it’s also our regular monthly market, so if you can’t make the evening’s festivities, come and drop in earlier for some delicious food and day of the dead inspired activities for the kids.
Meet Amir & Lennard the duo behind VOL, a new dutch street food company, who have been busy building their smokery and sales wagon down at the workshop. They’ll be launching their smoked sausage delicacy and other dutch inspired dishes at our next monthly market on 1st November, so be sure to come down to give it the taste test!
Here’s Amir, part time chef, part-time welder, proudly showing the beginnings of the smoke oven…we’ll be documenting the progress as the van develops…
Nice to be included in TimeOut’s piece ‘Meet the Makers’ this week looking at the best of London’s unusual craft workshops.

Great introductory course to working with leather from E17 specialists Sabel Saddlery at BHW HQ this evening. Not only do they have a great slogan ” Bespoke Leather Design for Horse, Human & Home” but they talked us through the tricks of the trade and led us into a whole new world of making.
Over the course of this one session evening course, we were introduced to leather claws and the art of double stitching, hand burnishing and polishing, different types of linen thread and techniques to wax it, and of course passed on a list of the best suppliers in London to seek out the necessary tools to get started.
Fear not. If you missed this one, and fancy joining the next one, new dates will be announced shortly. And check out www.sabelsaddlery.co.uk for a full insight into their full range of products from stirrup leathers to cat collars and of course the opportunity to ‘pimp your hide’!
The kids clearly had a great time at Workshop East’s fantastic stone carving workshop at our first ever Blackhorse Market. Fantastic chips of the edible variety were served up with inventive sauces from Walthamstow Legend Chips with Dips.
