We’re very proud to have helped two of our members Laetitia de Allegri & Matteo Fogale with their recent furniture collection Ish, which has just picked up a Wallpaper Design Award. Congratulations you two! You can watch a short interview (featuring the best workshop in E17) here.
It’s all made from Denimite, a marble-like material made from post-industrial denim scrap. Interesting stuff. Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
POP!!! Loving these birthday t-shirts made by kids at the market on Saturday – up, up and away into the Walthamstow skies…Thanks to Little Mashers and their helpers for these AMAZING bunch of Blackhorse birthday balloons! Hip Hip Hooray!
What a great day – the way all birthdays should be celebrated! Thanks to everyone who came last night…here’s to another fabulous year! Great balls of fire! And if you missed the occasion, check out this clipof the moment the wheel ignited the steel 1!
Thanks to Julia Jevzikova for the fantastic photographs from last night!
Come and help us build Walthamstow’s largest birthday candle, construct our giant cake, play nail the tail on the Blackhorse, and print your own specially designed birthday outfit. In the evening (7pm – late) we’ll be warming up the workshop as Boom La Tete raise the musical roof, accompanied by Wine & Vinyl & Assemble’s Mashaspinning the decks. We’ll be ceremoniously lighting the biggest birthday candle your eyes have seen, and serving up speciality beer brewed by our very own Left Bank Brewery.
And now he can! For the dedicated Blackhorse followers amongst you, you’ll remember the early beginnings of Jake Stevenson’s wooden bicycle last year. Now we’re pleased to hear it’s officially on the road, thanks to some hard graft and dedication.
We’re sure you’ll agree it’s quite a masterpiece! May it ride many a mile to come. Well done Jake!
Time for an interior revamp? Check out these rather lovely shelves made at the workshop by new member Emma Cohen. Determined to take furnishing matters into her own hands, she’s built these shelves from scratch, undaunted by being a complete beginner. And we think she’s done a pretty good job…
If you’ve got a New Year DIY project you’d like to get underway, come and book in for an induction, and we can help you to bring it into reality. Power to the People!
Join us next Saturday 6th December, as we transform into Santa’s workshop for the day. Book ahead to join the technical elves as they guide you through how to turn your own bespoke wood Christmas decoration.
And whilst perfecting your skills on the lathe why not have the kids create their own hand printed wrapping paper and Christmas card? (Suitable for children from 5 upwards)
We’re looking forward to hosting a special metalworking workshop tomorrow as part of the Craft Council’s mini festival of craft and innovation: Make/Shift/Do. Sadly our workshop is all sold out, but there’s all sorts of events happening all weekend in maker spaces across the UK – so definitely worth venturing out and paying a visit to the amazing venues taking part.
And don’t worry you can always sign up to another of our metalworking courses hereif you’ve missed the boat!
