Contain Yourself!

The wait is over, the new containers and their new residents are finally united. Customisation and painting is under way as our studio members settle in to their new work spaces. Top marks go to bike-builder Mick Lapsley who has transformed his No. 4 container into a fully functioning workshop and office, complete with framed artwork and fancy knick-knacks within days of moving in.

A superb addition to Blackhorse Workshop, the containers have added colour, community and expansion to our space. The project was made possible through securing a loan from Big Issue Invest and support from London Borough of Waltham Forest. We worked with local architects Sean and Stephen to design and plan the layout and design. A very swift delivery came courtesy of D. Cain and Son hauliers. Jacko led the operation with the help of our man on the ground Enrique.

We also welcome the return of the iconic Blackhorse horse head created by graphic designers Europa who have also supplied new signage in the familiar Blackhorse identity. This horse head features on the side of container No. 3 which houses designer/makers Christina French and Lua Garcia. Other containers are now home to furniture makers Jack Relton, Fay of Le Maison de Furniture and Nick Rouillard.

So pop by and see the transformation, we hope you will agree that the containers are a great addition to our creative community.
