In need of an inspiring ‘staycation’?

An Exploration into Lighting Design is an immersive five and a half-day workshop that delves into the design and craft of lighting. Across the course you’ll learn fundamentals in how to design and make a freestanding or pendant light, created to perfectly suit your home. You’ll develop practical skills such as brazing, mechanical fixing, metal drilling, sanding and working hand tools, along with an insight into lighting design process from industry professionals. The outcome will be an exciting piece of your own hand-crafted lighting design, along with scale drawings and a prototype model.

This course is for people curious to learn new skills in design and craft, in a lively and creative workshop environment. You may want to explore more about the product design industry as you consider a career change or further study, or you’re looking to create a unique piece of lighting designed to complement your home.

The result will be a fully executed piece of product design that can be added to your portfolio, website, or into your home to be admired by all.

By the end of the course you will have:

– Gained experience working with wood and metal
– Interpreted a design brief
