Join us for a special one-day workshop with experimental industrial designer Liang-Jung Chen from The Misused, as part of London Design Festival, for a unique insight into creative potential of everyday household hardware objects.
Participate in an ongoing global design and research project with The Misused. The project started in in Taiwan before travelling to The Netherlands, and now the UK. This workshop will reveal the potential of hardware – how they are representative of different cultures and often misused in inventive and humorous ways.
You will create new objects by re-imagining, re-purposing and customising from a selection of hardware provided. Using workshop equipment and with technical support, you will design and create your own piece to be photographed and featured in the study, before taking it home with you.
You will also receive:
A pre-workshop inspiration guide before the class
A DIY Hardware Kit to take home with you
and a Post Workshop review that will include images of all the objects from the workshop
About The Misused
Co-founded in 2018 by London-based industrial designer and researcher Liang-Jung Chen, The Misused studies hardware culture around the world.
Each year, the project observes different cultural approaches to organising hardware, its display in shops and how selected hardware can be repurposed into new objects. The project is dedicated to inspiring people to re-imagine daily hardware in alternative contexts.
