COVID-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a large impact on the workshop and our public activities. We are doing our best to continue providing workspace for our members and to get our courses up and running. We appreciate your patience and support during this time.

Due to social distancing requirements, capacity at the workshop is currently greatly reduced, so it has been necessary to introduce some restrictions. We have also sadly had to reduce our technical team, so dedicated support is now only available on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Open Access

Woodwork
If you have already completed your Level 1 induction you can access the workshop on Wednesdays and Saturdays, where you will be able to get some technical support. All other days are currently reserved for those who have completed their Level 2 induction or are existing studio members.

Metalwork
For those who may need extra support please book in on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you are self sufficient you can book in for any day.

If you are looking to start using the workshop, you will need to begin by completing an induction. These are running twice a month from October; the cost will also include your first bench-booking at the workshopYou can book a bench up to two weeks in advance.

Not sure where to start? Why not sign up to one of our courses to learn skills and make your first project. You won’t need an induction before joining a course and they are all designed to teach a specific skill and make a unique product in a fun, relaxed and Covid-safe atmosphere.

Social Distancing and Cleaning

We are carrying out additional cleaning and social distancing in line with government guidance. Our courses are running with smaller class sizes to allow enough space for everyone.

To make this new system work we will need your cooperation, to ensure we all feel safe and secure

  1. Do not come to Blackhorse Workshop if you have had Covid-19 symptoms, or live with anyone who has, in the previous 14 days.
  2. Bring your own face mask and wear it all times while on the premises
  3. Check in with the NHS Track and Trace App via the QR codes dotted around the building
  4. Please observe the 2-metre social distancing rule where possible
  5. Non-members will not be permitted to visit
  6. If you experience any Covid-19 in the days following your session, please let us know

We are following the Public Health England (PHE) guidance on cleaning for non-healthcare settings.

We may need to make changes over the coming months, so please bare with us in these challenging times.
