KIDS HOLIDAY CLUB

Looking for an exciting activity for the kids this summer? We are running a four-day kids holiday club introducing children to woodwork.

These fun 90 minute sessions for 9-11 year olds will teach the basics of woodworking. Each day will focus on a specific tool or technique, explored through teacher demonstration and hands-on practice with the materials provided. Children will be encouraged to experiment and explore different designs of their choice, making a number of small finished projects to take home. Bring to life a favourite animal, a hanging mobile or a wheeled machine of the future! The sessions will cover basic skills such as hammering, marking out, drilling, sawing and assembling timber. These classes are aimed at beginners and are ideal for children interested in making. When booking please make sure you can attend all four sessions.

The course will be led by Toby Poolman, our resident wood specialist technician. Toby trained as a furniture designer/maker and has designed and led workshops for all age groups.
He recently designed and delivered the making activities as part of our London Borough of Culture programme: Atomic 50, delivered the Blackhorse Workshop activities at the Walthamstow Garden Party over previous years and this year’s V&A Great Get Together at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park.
