V&A Great Get Together

Sunday 23rd June, 12 – 6pm
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Blackhorse Workshop is partnering with V&A for The Great Get Together this Sunday, as part of their pre-opening programme for the V&A East Project. This family friendly event celebrates London’s diverse communities through a range of activities and performances throughout the day from the likes of Sadler’s Wells, London College of Fashion and Discover Storytelling Centre.

Following on from our very successful London Borough of Culture children’s tin legacy project, Atomic 50, we will be running a free metalworking activity for children, ages 4+. Using tin sheet, children will be introduced to basic making techniques to create their very own aeroplane, destined for a holiday location of their dreams! The workshop will include marking out, folding, punching holes and decoration of the aeroplane.

We are excited to be working alongside fellow east London maker-spaces Turning Earth, London Centre for Book Arts and Batch Works. They will also be running children-friendly activities in creative clay, personalised sketchbook binding, and bioplastic 3D printing respectively. The event is organised in partnership with the Jo Cox Foundation and The Big Lunch campaign.

Come along and join in these free making sessions, no booking required. We hope to see you there!
